The Cincinnati Reds are beginning to slip in the NL Central race and second baseman Brandon Phillips doesn’t seem to be taking it well.
Phillips exploded on a local beat writer for the team during manger Dusty Baker’s pre-game (yes, pre-game) talk with media.
The outburst was in regard to a reporter’s tweet that questioning Baker placing Phillips in the two slot when his on base percentage is ten points less than the player who was previously batting second.

Phillips identified the reporter and then unleashed a tirade laced with profanity and the somewhat baffling threat, “I’ve got your twitter handle now. It’s a wrap!” The reporter, C. Trent Rosecrans (the third?) from the Cincinnati Enquirer responded to Phillips ramblings with a pretty funny, deadpan “congratulations” and seemed to handle the harsh words pretty well.
Looking fairly out of place throughout the exchange, however, was Baker who can be seen laughing and grinning his way through what was no doubt the most volatile regular season pre-game media talk of the year.
The Reds, apparently unfazed by the ordeal, beat the Cardinals a few hours later 10-0.
